PE Premium, Sports and Clubs

Summer Term  (2) June 2019:

New for this half term is athletics and running clubs for Early Years and Key Stage 1 on Wednesdays and Key Stage 2 on Thursdays.  An exciting club for Owl Class is Parkour Club on Tuesdays.  Parkour is a movement activity that promotes health and fitness and involves running, jumping, climbing, vaulting and rolling.  Sign-up letters for these free clubs have been sent home and copies are available from the school office.

Swimming at Barningham CEVC

The children have swimming lessons throughout the Autumn term in Badger Class (Y3 and Y4). For the first time this academic year, the children went to Diss Swimming Pool. The children have differentiated lessons, depending on their level of confidence and competence in the water. All of the children showed improvements, including the non-swimmers.

Spring Term  (2) February  2019:

This half term we are continuing with indoor multi-sports for Early Years and Key Stage 1 on Wednesdays and Dodgeball for Key Stage 2 on Thursdays. These clubs have been very popular with waiting lists so we are keen to make sure everyone has the opportunity to take part.  Sign-up letters for these free clubs have been sent home.  Copies are available from the school office.

Our new Spring term Dance Club continues on Fridays.  Open to children in years 1 to 6, letter have been sent home.  Please note there will be no club on 1st and 29th March.

Spring Term  (1) January  2019:

New clubs starting in January are indoor multi-sports for Early Years and Key Stage 1 on Wednesdays and Dodgeball for Key Stage 2 on Thursdays. These are free of charge and sign-up letters have been sent home.  Copies are available from the school office.

Brand new for the Spring term is Dance Club on Fridays.  Open to children in years 1 to 6.  This is also free of charge and letters have been sent home.

Key Stage 1 PE Home Learning Kit

This half term, Squirrel Class are very lucky to have use of the Schools Sports Partnership’s Key Stage 1 PE packs.  These packs are for the children to take turns in bringing home and inside the pack is an exciting activity with all the resources needed for them to play. Games can be adapted to play on their own or as a family – the more people, the better!  This pack should be brought back into school the following Monday with all the resources inside ready for another child to take home.

We encourage the children to stay as active as they can and we hope these packs will inspire them to ‘move more’ with their friends and family!  Did you know the recommended amount of physical activity for children is 60 minutes everyday?  Please see the link below for ideas on how to achieve this.

60 Minutes

Autumn Term  (2) October 2018:

We have two after school gymnastics clubs running this half term, on Wednesdays for Early Years and Key Stage 1 and Thursdays for Key Stage 2.

These clubs are free of charge so there is no cost to parents as they are covered by our PE Premium.  Sign-up letters will be sent home and copies are available from the school office.

Autumn Term (1) September 2018:

Sports after school clubs start this half term with football for the younger children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 (Years R to 2) on Wednesdays and hockey for Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) on Thursdays.

These clubs are free of charge so there is no cost to parents as they are covered by our PE Premium.  Sign-up letters will be sent home and copies are available from the school office.

Please read how we plan to spend our PE Premium for this year and how we used it last year to support the PE within the school. Our PD training in September was based on PE games and activities.

Summer Term April 2018:

On Friday 20 July we held our Annual Sports Day. Plenty of action, including two dead heats, tumbles, cheers and perspiration. The winning house was the Red team – but the difference between Blue and Yellow teams was just 2 points! Lovely to see the perseverance, support, team spirit and personal challenge on display.

Swimming

Badger Class swimming has moved from the summer term to the autumn term. A letter has been sent to parents and a copy is below:
Changes to Swimming 2018

Swimming lessons will be at Diss Pool in the autumn term for children in year 3 and 4. Every child also receives a high-quality PE lesson led by either the Schools Sports Co-ordinator (SSCo) or Premier Sports. This summer term our Y5 and Y6 children will be receiving Leadership Training to develop skills, confidence and expertise. We hope to take part in organised games at Thurston Community College.

Lego Club!

Mrs Parr talked to 12 children from Y1 to Y6 about PE and sports at home and at school in November.

Here are their reflections: PE Pupil Perception Nov 2017

Our Y6 pupils took part in an inter-school competition at Thurston Community College in September.

As a school we report annually to parents, carers and governors how we have used the government PE grant to support the children in developing PE.

PE and Sports Premium – Spending Impact 2016 – 2017

Please read our Impact Report on last year and our proposed Plans for this academic year. There is a proposal to increase the grant by the government, but this propsal has not included the new figure as this is not verified at present.

PE and Sports Premium – Proposed Budget 2017 – 2018

Throughout the year we have different after school sports clubs for the children, anything from dance and gymnastics to football and dodgeball.  This is the place to find the current clubs and how to sign up.

Computer Code Club:

This is voluntarily run by one of our School Governors and is for children in years 4 to 6.

Here are the results of a questionnaire to gather pupil’s peceptions of PE

Each year we publish an Impact Report to show how we used the government grant to develop PE within the school, and show our proposed spend for this year. The figure does not include the proposed increased amount as this has not been verified yet:
